In a major change, Pippa Middleton and her husband, James Matthews, are working with the Rabbit Welfare Association Fund (RAWF) to provide greater protection for animals on their property. “We’re excited to reveal that we’ve been working with Bucklebury Farm to revamp their rabbit area to phase out pat-a-pet [petting zoo] sessions and create a more welfare-conscious experience,” the organization announced on Instagram. “They have invested in spacious and enriched housing for their rabbits using our guidelines and just look at how amazing it is. We’re also launching the new farm park welfare standards with them and together we will educate other farm parks and rabbit owners.”

The Rabbit Welfare Association Fund further clarified why their mission and Pippa Middleton‘s involvement are essential. “Earlier this year, we launched our ‘Don’t Bug Bunnies’ campaign to highlight the issues of pat-a-pet sessions and poor living conditions at farm parks. Farm parks might look like fun family days out, but behind the scenes, many animals — especially rabbits and guinea pigs — are suffering and are often kept in tiny hutches,” the organization said in a separate statement.

In 2020, Pippa Middleton and James Matthews purchased Bucklebury Farm for nearly $2M. The property boasts glamping pods, a deer park and children’s play areas. The couple will reportedly be building a nursery within the grounds.
