Thomas Butler, a pensioner who gave DJ Carey €16,360 for the cancer treatment he claimed to desperately need, lost both of his own parents to the disease.
As a “true Kilkenny supporter” all his life, a picture of Mr Butler with his former idol used to hang proudly in the house.
