Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday Morning

It’s that time of year again – the clocks “fall back” this weekend.

The clocks will go back one hour as of 2:00 am Sunday, giving an extra hour of sleep for many.

Dr. Milena Pavlova, a neurologist and sleep scientist at Mass General Brigham, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, says not only does the time change throw off a person’s regular routine, but it also throws off the body’s internal clock.

Pavlova says humans are able to adapt to the shift, but the body does pay a price, especially in terms of the heart. She says there are seasonal patterns that show an increased risk of heart attacks with the time change.
