Manchester United failed to keep the winning run alive against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, picking up a draw at the City Ground.

Despite being a disappointing result, Manchester United can have no complaints, with the lack of concentration and poor defending in the first five minutes of the second half proving costly.

United drew 2-2 with Forest, but dropped a 1-0 lead in the process before pulling one back to draw.

Amad’s brilliant volley secured the point for United; however, before this happened, there was another player who made crucial interventions to give the platform to Amad.

As United sought an equaliser, there was a lot of space for Forest to counter-attack into, but despite this, Forest were unable to inflict damage on United.

This is because Luke Shaw was expertly positioned numerous times to intercept Forest’s counter before it really got started.

This happened more than once, with Shaw pushed very high and taking the ball off Forest’s attackers with interceptions and tackles.

By being this front-footed defender, Shaw prevented the game from being opened up, kept the pressure on Forest, which eventually led to the equaliser, and United’s unbeaten run continued.

How Luke Shaw performed for Manchester United vs Forest

Shaw retained his role on the left of the back three against Forest, despite Ayden Heaven’s impressive outing vs Brighton, as the Englishman looks to make himself undroppable.

With Lisandro Martinez back in first-team training for United, Shaw will know performances must be top-notch, otherwise the Argentinian will no doubt replace him.

Shaw’s performances have been solid this season, for the most part, as he somehow defies recent history, keeping fit ahead of the World Cup next summer.

Long may this continue.
