Canadians are full of energy in Toronto as the Blue Jays take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series. While that’s partly in hopes that Canada succeeds in the winner-take-all match, many are also celebrating a powerful rendition of the national anthem ahead of the momentous game.

Schitt’s Creek star Noah Reid had the honour of performing “O Canada” in front of thousands at the Rogers Centre on Saturday night, and he’s no doubt certain of the responsibility such a position holds.

“Beyond honoured to get to sing ‘O Canada’ tonight at the World Series Game 7,” Reid wrote in an Instagram post earlier on Nov. 1. “Anyone who knows me knows my unconditional love for the Blue Jays. I’m so proud of this team, this city, this country, and it’s the honour of a lifetime to get to be a part of this historic moment. Let’s go, Blue Jays!!!!”

Who performed the national anthems at Game 7 of the World Series?

Following national anthem performances from artists like Alessia Cara, Tinashe and Pharrell Williams, Game 7 saw performances from two artists: American Idol star Pia Toscano sang the U.S. national anthem, while Reid gave a rendition of Canada’s national anthem.

Reid, who’s from Toronto, has been acting nearly his entire life. However, he gained wider fame after starring in Schitt’s Creek, a Canadian sitcom about a wealthy family who find themselves broke and having to move to a tiny town. He played Patrick Brewer on the series, the love interest of David Rose, who was portrayed by Dan Levy.

Outside of acting, Reid is also a singer-songwriter who has released three albums. He put out “Songs From a Broken Chair” in 2016, “Gemini” in 2020 and “Adjustments” in 2022, alongside other singles and EPs.

‘Could cry’ to ‘perfect casting’

Across social media, fellow celebrities and fans rejoiced in Reid performing the Canadian national anthem. In his initial post announcing the news on Instagram, his fellow Schitt’s Creek stars shared their support in the comments section.

“Could cry,” Dan Levy commented.

“Huge,” Sarah Levy, who starred in the series as Twyla Sands, added.

“Perfect casting,” Canadian actor Salvatore Antonio shared.

“You will knock it out of the park! The dome! The centre! The stadium place! So exciting,” Stacey Farber, a Canadian actress who starred in the Degrassi franchise, said.

“That was the best rendition of our national anthem since Anne Murray,” an X user wrote.

“10/10 no notes. Perfect anthem. Go Jays go!” another penned.
