President Isaac Herzog eulogized Amiram Cooper at his funeral in Kibbutz Nir Oz, saying that “as the President of the State of Israel, on behalf of the State of Israel and the entire nation, I stand here with bowed head and ask you, Amiram, for forgiveness. Forgiveness that we weren’t here in the hour of danger, destruction and crisis. That you stood with bare hands against human monsters. Sorry that we couldn’t rescue you in time.” According to him, “Hamas murderers have shown their true face again and again in recent weeks – the cruelty, the cynicism, the willingness to literally become organ traffickers. We will not relent and will not cease to demand the return of the hostages’ bodies, in order to give them rest and pay them final respects.”
