Indonesian badminton ace Jonatan Christie powered to his third tournament victory of 2025 with a dominant 21-14, 21-14 win over Magnus Johannesen in the men’s final of the HYLO Open 2025 in Saarbrücken, Germany, on Sunday (2 November).

Christie has been in fine form in recent months, with title victories at the Korea Open and Denmark Open in September and October.

Johannesen stepped onto the court for his first Super 500 final of his career following a 21-13, 21-13 win over Finland’s Kalle Koljonen in their semi-final.

But the night belonged to Christie, who had to work hard to find ascendancy in the opening game of the contest.

The Indonesian shuttler held a slender 11-9 lead at the mid-game break before he pulled ahead after winning seven points on the trot.

In the second game, Christie had a much easier path to victory as he opened an early four-point lead over the Dane.

Johannesen could not recover from Christie’s early points blitz and was playing catch-up through the game.
