Two people believed to be connected to a stabbing near the Drop-In Centre on Thursday are now facing assault charges, Calgary police say.
Investigators say it happened near the Calgary Drop-In Centre, on Dermot Baldwin Way SE, just before 9 p.m.
They were responding to reports of a stabbing and a robbery, and when they arrived, a victim was found with serious, life-threatening injuries, who was then taken to hospital.
The person’s condition has since been upgraded to serious but stable.
Police initially reported that a second person was stabbed blocks away, a short time later.
However, investigators have since told 660 NewsRadio that the second individual thought to have been stabbed was actually one of two people considered a suspect in the initial incident.
That individual was assessed at the hospital, and it was determined his injuries weren’t related to the incident and were sustained a few days ago.
Meanwhile, both suspects, 36-year-old Neil Henderson and 34-year-old Donovan Collins, now face one count of aggravated assault. Henderson faces a failure to comply with undertaking charge, while Collins faces robbery and failure to comply with a probation order charges.
They have been remanded into custody and are set to appear in court on Monday.
Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
