A man in his 30s has been killed after being hit by a bus on the N7 motorway on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N7 motorway eastbound at approximately 3.30pm.

The collision occurred between junction 8 and junction 7 of the motorway and involved a bus and a pedestrian.

The male pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght University Hospital.

He later passed away this evening as a result of the collision. A post mortem will take place in due course.

Gardaí added that the male driver, also aged in his 30s, of the bus was uninjured and two passengers received non-life threatening injuries.

The N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound is currently closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road will remain closed overnight and diversions are in place.

In a statement, Gardaí have said they are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

They are also looking for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
