Gardaí are appealing for the public’s help to find a car stolen in Tipperary as members of the public are warned not to approach the vehicle, or any of its occupants.

The missing car is a Blue Kia Sorento Estate, registration number 141-G-388, which was taken in Roscrea shortly after 5pm on Sunday afternoon. The suspect in the alleged hijacking is believed to be an Eastern European male, late 30s, 5’4” in height. Gardaí are actively investigating the incident and are urging any members of the public with any information to come forward.

Anyone who sees the car, or who may know where it is, is asked not to approach the vehicle, or any occupants, but to report it by calling 999/112. This current probe follows a separate alleged incident of criminal damage and theft of a vehicle yesterday which occurred in Midleton in East Cork shortly after 9am. This vehicle has thankfully since been recovered.

In recent days, there were also reports of further attempted vehicle thefts in Ringaskiddy on the night before Halloween. Here, it’s believed at least one car was stolen and would-be thieves tried to access a number of other vehicles across multiple housing estates. And yesterday evening, officers also responded after joyriders were caught stealing a scissor lift cherry picker and driving it through the city centre on what witnesses have described as a ‘crazy joyride incident.’

A number of people were seen on top of the stolen vehicle; however, Gardaí confirmed this morning that they made two arrests. Two men were arrested for stealing the equipment and have been detained, and investigations are currently underway.
