Books of condolence have opened at Áras Contae An Chláir and at Council buildings in Ennistymon for the late firefighter Joe Crosse, who tragically passed away on Thursday.
As a mark of respect, Clare County Fire and Rescue Service’s headquarters on New Road will be closed from 10am to 2pm on Monday, however the service will continue to respond to call-outs during this time.
As well as serving as Ennistymon Fire Service’s Sub-Station Officer, Joe was also heavily involved with Ennistymon GAA, most recently managing the club’s U-9s , having also looked after U-7 and U-11 sides.
In a statement Ennistymon GAA has described Joe as “Always smiling & ready for a chat, Joe was a true volunteer, community & family man. He led so many charity fundraisers, ran marathons, organised blitz’s, a highly regarded & sought-after plasterer and a retained Firefighter with the Ennistymon crew. He was the best of everyone. A great coach, neighbour, worker & friend.But first & foremost Joe was a model family man; cousin, uncle, brother, father & husband.”
Joe is survived by his wife Brid, children Teagan and Odhran, sisters Joanne, Olivia and Tricia, brother Tom, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Brid’s parents Brendan and Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, his close friend Pat, neighbours and a wide circle of friends and his colleagues in the Fire Brigade.
Joe will be laid to rest on Monday following a funeral Mass in Clouna Church.
