Parker took aim at the Titans in the wake of reports last month that Hannay’s three-year contract had a clause which would see him demoted to an assistant coach position in 2027 should the club be able to land Craig Bellamy as its head coach.

In the end, the Titans reconfirmed their commitment to Hannay late last month while at the same time making “no apologies for pursuing the best” in reference to their interest in Bellamy.

Titans chairman Dennis Watt said in a statement that while the club wouldn’t “comment on confidential contractual matters”, much of the reporting on the matter had been “inaccurate”.

To that point, Frizelle used her appearance on SEN Radio on Tuesday to hit back at the “outside noise” and directly address Parker.

“Corey, I’d like to clear this up now because it did bother me that you would think that we would be dishonest or not transparent with our incoming coach regarding Craig Bellamy and Josh Hannay,” she said.

“I want to say on the record we would never operate that way. We are straight shooters and we will always be transparent. We would never treat anyone poorly like that.

“I hope that clears it up for the public, there was nothing we did that neither Josh or Craig Bellamy were not across.”

In response, Parker said: “That’s great Bec, that provides some great clarity for the listeners and for the fans.

“Because for such a period of time there was a bit of uncertainty, not from your end, but I did say from our end that within the four walls you would hope it would be handled differently and you have absolutely cleared that up without a doubt.”

As for what Parker had said in the first place when reports of the Titans’ interest in Bellamy first came to light last month, the Broncos legend said should they be true Hannay would have been “somewhat blindsided”.

“Hannay whilst holidaying overseas has made it known that he didn’t have any idea that there was a contract with a clause in it,” Parker added.

“At this stage we’re led to believe that Josh Hannay had no idea about the alleged signing of Craig Bellamy, and we haven’t heard anything from the Titans.

“If what we’re reading is correct and Josh comes back — he’s away on holidays — he’s coming back into a storm of media going, ‘What’s going on?’

“I understand if Craig hasn’t made those decisions, but certainly if Josh is aware of it, they need to front the media and just let their fans know where they’re going.”

The Titans eventually did that and while there is much-needed clarity over the coaching situation, the same can’t be said for the future of skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui.

The superstar forward, who is contracted until the end of 2029 but has a clause which allows him to explore the open market, has been linked to the Perth Bears and Melbourne Storm.

On Perth’s interest specifically, Frizelle said she was “not too worried”.

“I wish them all the success. I think they’ve got a big challenge ahead,” she added.

“I think them coming in is great for the game but in terms of us, it’s a big ask to ask people to move across to Perth, the time difference, the travel.

“It’s gonna be a challenge, and I think I’m pretty confident with our playing group and where they sit.

“I’m not overly worried about the Perth Bears and if we do lose people to them, well, I wish them luck.”
