Kangaroos’ coach Kevin Walters has hinted at changes for Australia’s third Test dead rubber against England as he called for more Ashes Tours to return the concept to its former glory.

Australia have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the first Ashes series in 22 years, with a push to play the six tourists without a Test in the third and final game at Headingley.

Blayke Brailey, Mitch Moses, Ethan Strange, Bradman Best, Dylan Edwards and Jacob Preston have yet to play a minute in the Ashes, while skipper Isaah Yeo missed the second Test and most of the first with a concussion and will come back into contention for game three.

With the Ashes decided there are calls for the Kangaroos to make mass changes, especially since the result doesn’t matter in the context of the series.

On SEN radio, Greg Alexander called on all six unused players to get a spot in the 17 for the third and final Test.

“Anybody who hasn’t had a game probably deserves to have a go,” Alexander said.

“Maybe wheel them all in and make some changes because it doesn’t matter.”

Walters hasn’t been happy with his side’s attack in the first two Tests, which could mean changes, his main goal is still to win 3-0.

“I’m going to take a little bit more time to settle on the 17,” Walters said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“I know that you (Voss) have had some thoughts around what should and shouldn’t happen.

“I’m reading those thoughts with interest which is good. Everyone is obviously looking forward to the team being announced.

“I’m going to keep my cards close to my chest (but) I’ve been really impressed with their attitude.

“Our attack hasn’t been what we would’ve liked. I’m not going to give too much away.”

Walters’ three game deal expires at the end of the third Test, before a decision is made on whether he will continue into next year’s World Cup.

However, despite Australia’s dominance over a disappointing England side in the first two Tests, Walters wants to see the Ashes series take place much more regularly to return the concept to its former glory.

“It’s got to happen again,” Walters said.

“It used to be every two years that the Kangaroos would have a tour.

“It’s been a great experience from the players and the fans here are completely different.

“The supporters and the whole part of touring with 24 players and 12 staff has been (excellent).

“It needs to continue because I’m a huge fan (of) the experiences you share and the lifelong friendships you make on these tours. It’s really special.”
