President Donald Trump’s disapproval rating has reached an all time high, according to a new poll from CNN.
About 63% of voters disapprove of Trump’s job as president, numerically reaching the highest disapproval rating across both of his terms in CNN polling. The previous high was 62% disapproving when he was leaving office in January 2021.
The president’s overall approval rating sits at the lowest point of his second term, with only 37% of voters approving of his job as president. This rating is just one percentage point shy of his approval rating at this point during his first term, when it stood at 36%.
The poll also concluded that a wide majority of voters are dissatisfied with the state of the country, with 68% saying “things are going badly” and 72% saying the economy is “in poor shape.”
Around six in 10 voters say that “Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the US.”
Among the top issues, voters said that the cost of living is the biggest issue Americans are currently facing.
A majority also holds negative views on Trump’s handling of the government shutdown, with 61% disapproving, nearly as many (58%) disapproving of each party’s congressional leadership’s handling of it as well.
In terms of international standing, 56% of voters feel that his foreign policy decisions have hurt America’s standing in the world and 57% say he’s gone too far deporting immigrants living in the US illegally.
The CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from October 27 to 30 with a sample size of 1,245 adults, including 954 registered voters. The margin of error for the poll is a plus or minus of 3.1 percentage points.
