An online fundraiser has been launch in aid of an 11-year-old boy from Co. Wicklow who suffered life-changing injuries in a firework accident last weekend.
On Sunday, November 2, Scott Toolis was playing with friends in his estate and came across an unused firework on the grass.
Unaware of the danger, Scott lit the firework, which exploded, reportedly blowing off some of his fingers and leaving him with severe burns to his chest, face, and hands, as well as singed hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
Scott, who is currently recovering in hospital and awaiting reconstructive surgery on his hand, has been left devastated after being told he will never box again — a sport he loved and had dreamed of pursuing professionally.

“His dream was to be a pro boxer, and his dreams are crushed over a firework,” Alex wrote. “This firework was a dud, and Scott had no idea. Scotty will never be able to box again.
