Emergency services are currently tackling a major blaze at the marina in Carrick-on-Shannon, where two boats caught on fire.
The fire broke out this evening at the town’s marina, opposite The Landmark Hotel. Two boats were destroyed.
Carrick-on-Shannon fire brigade at still at the scene. The fire on one boat has been extinguished, while one boat remains on fire but is being brought under control.
Sources say it’s not believed, at this stage, anyone was injured as everyone associated with the boats has been accounted for.
Thick smoke can be seen rising from multiple vessels moored along the River Shannon as flames have spread quickly between boats.
Fire crews from Leitrim Fire Service are at the scene, assisted by GardaÃ, Ambulances and Waterways Ireland personnel.
