Ivan Yates has had an uncomfortable week, with fresh details of his undeclared coaching work for Fianna Fáil emerging each day. But if he feels pressure now, he can at least take solace in the fact that it is not in the same league as the spot of bother in which he found himself in 2012.
It was in March that year that he realised that he couldn’t escape his multi-million euro debts. His buccaneering business, Celtic Bookmakers, had gone into receivership, but the banks were looking to claw some of their loans back.
