The US is seeking United Nations support for a proposal to send foreign troops into Gaza to help secure the fragile truce essential to President Donald Trump’s broader peace plan.
The International Stabilization Force would work with Israel and Egypt to secure the territory and enable rebuilding efforts after more than two years of war between Israel and Hamas, which has ruled Gaza for almost two decades. The US Mission to the UN said in a press release Thursday that it had received support from the 10 elected members of the Security Council on a resolution to establish the force.
