Premier Tech has stepped down as co-title sponsor of the Israel-Premier Tech (IPT) team effective immediately, ending a four-year partnership and adding fresh uncertainty to one of pro cycling’s most scrutinized teams.

In a statement published on the company’s website, the Quebec-based multinational said it will have no involvement with the team next season, despite the team’s recent announcement that it would change its name.

“Although we took notice of the team’s decision to change its name for the 2026 season, the core reason for Premier Tech to sponsor the team has been overshadowed to a point where it has become untenable for us to continue as a sponsor,” the statement reads.

The war is coming home for Israel-Premier Tech

Riders are refusing to sign for the squad, morale is suffering, and rumours swirl over a name change and sponsors.

The IPT team has not yet issued a public response to Premier Tech’s withdrawal or detailed how it will replace the funding and branding footprint the Canadian company provided.

An internal message, sent by team general manager Kjell Carlström and viewed by Escape Collective, sought to reassure team staff and riders that the team would continue.

That message indicated that Premier-Tech’s announcement was not made in consultation with the team, “which is why we were not in a position to inform internally prior to the announcement,” Carlström wrote.

The internal communication stated that the team is having “ongoing and exciting conversations with potential partners,” and indicated that staff and riders would be updated in the coming week.
