The Hornets were held to a 1-1 draw after Marc Bola’s early opener was equalised by a Scott Twine free-kick in the first half.

Gracia’s side pushed in the second half but were unable to find a way through and could have lost were it not for a couple of big Egil Selvik saves.

The Spaniard said: “We can say we had good stats, many chances, more possession, but it wasn’t enough to get the points.

“In the beginning we had the chance to kill the game. We had control of the game, we lost balance, and they started to dominate and have more control.

“In the second half, we lost the balance again. We didn’t have the power we need as a team, being compact, and then anything can happen.

“We created many chances but we have to recognise they had a clear 1-v-1, too.

“We tried, we ran a lot, we made a big effort, but we are disappointed.”

Gracia elaborated on how his side lost their way after the initial period of dominance.

He said: “We played more with our heart than our heads.

“We have many players with skills, attacking 1-v-1 at high speed, but at the end we didn’t finish anything.

“We needed to have more movements upfront because attacking 5-v-5 you need to create spaces and be aggressive with our running in behind.

“We didn’t do enough movements or make enough runs. It’s something we have to insist on, to work on.

“At the same time we were losing players in the middle, with Imran trying to arrive in the box and the opponents with fresh legs upfront.

“We wanted it but the way we wanted it wasn’t the best way to do it.”
