Drew McIntyre called out country music star Jelly Roll, one of his upcoming opponents at WWE’s 2025 SummerSlam, after experiencing travel issues heading to the event.
In a video posted on X, McIntyre explained that he was in England and had a “good chance” of missing SummerSlam after experiencing trouble flying back to the United States due to a lack of proper identification before blaming Jelly Roll.
“Jelly Roll, You know somebody? You’ve got some connections,” McIntyre said. “You’ve got your 15 minutes of fame right now, you can get away with some stuff.”
According to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, McIntyre’s travel problems are a legitimate issue that WWE is currently dealing with.
Jelly Roll hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 16, as his interview with Randy Orton was interrupted by McIntyre and Logan Paul.
The confrontation was headlined by Jelly Roll choke-slamming Paul through a table.
Paul and McIntyre are currently scheduled to face Orton and Jelly Roll in a celebrity tag team showcase match at SummerSlam.
This will be the second straight year that the country music star appears at SummerSlam, as he performed his songs God Bless America and Liar before hitting Austin Theory with a chokeslam in 2024.
During SmackDown on July 11, Jelly Roll performed a few more songs in his home state of Tennessee before he was interrupted by Paul and accused of using wrestling for publicity.
Orton then came to his defense and claimed that Paul, who is also a popular YouTuber, was being a hypocrite. This led to an altercation with McIntyre, who had the support of Paul.
The four men clashed again on Friday’s SmackDown, as Paul and Jelly Roll exchanged words. Shortly after McIntyre entered the ring to support Paul, Orton emerged and a brawl ensued.
In the end, Orton and Jelly Roll gained the upper hand before sending McIntyre and Paul out of the ring.
It’s unknown if McIntyre will still be able to make the trip for SummerSlam, but he’s placing the blame on one of his upcoming opponents if he can’t arrive in time.
