Thousands of people from around the world are offering their support for Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia.
Vesia and his wife shared the heartbreaking news yesterday that their infant daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26.
The Dodgers announced before the World Series that Vesia wouldn’t be joining the team due to a deeply personal family matter.
His daughter passed away after Game 2 of the World Series.
The heartbreaking news has led to an outpouring of support for Vesia, his wife, and their baby Sterling.
“We’re all here for you, man. Thinking of you and your family and sending all our love,” Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout wrote.
Vesia’s Instagram post currently has over 30,000 comments of love and support from teammates, fellow athletes across different sports, and fans from around the world.
Freddie Friedman’s wife, Chelseaa, commented saying, “Love you guys so much. I can’t stop thinking about you and your beautiful angel.”
There were even comments in Japanese, including one translation that read: “I have no words to express my deepest condolences from Japan.”
During the World Series, the Blue Jays’ relief pitchers were seen with the No. 51 written on their caps.
In his post, Vesia thanked the Dodgers and the Blue Jays.
“Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support,” Vesia wrote. “We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.”
