The Red Raiders drove down to the BYU 7-yard line, but the Cougars’ defense held up to force the field goal.

Jack Kelly’s pressure on third down led to Behren Morton hobbling off the field. His health going forward will be something to monitor as BYU attempts another comeback from down two scores.

The Red Raiders traveled 92 yards on the drive across 12 plays, picking up a pair of third down conversions along the way.

In two possessions thus far, BYU has totaled 44 yards of offense — 43 rushing, and one passing.

10:07 — Texas Tech gets on the board first with a 47-yard field goal. Texas Tech 3, BYU 0.

BYU punted on the opening drive of the game before forcing a 3-and-out, only for Parker Kingston to muff a punt and give the Red Raiders the ball back deep in Cougar territory.

But BYU’s defense held strong, as Jack Kelly sacked Behren Morton on third down to force the long field goal. Siale Esera previously had another third down sack just before Kingston’s fumbled punt.

Now it’s time to see how Bear Bachmeier and company respond on offense.
