A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a coyote at a park in Mississauga on Saturday.

Peel Regional Police were called to Lewis Bradley Park, near Embassy Avenue and Inverhouse Drive, shortly after 6:30 a.m.

When officers searched the area, they found the woman with serious injuries to her lower body.

Paramedics performed life-saving measures before taking her to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Police indicated that the woman had been reported missing earlier in the morning, but believe she may have been wandering overnight.

While police have ruled out foul play, the investigation remains ongoing.
