A non-registered massage therapist allegedly sexually assaulted a woman after giving her a massage at his home in Toronto.
York Regional Police said the accused has been connected with two reported incidents in Toronto and Markham.
The first occurred on Aug. 12, when the victim went to the suspect’s home in the area of Rosemount Avenue and Via Italia for a massage.
Police say the suspect allegedly began to touch the victim sexually after the massage was finished.
A few weeks later, on Sept. 1, police say the victim visited a swim club in the area of Woodbine Avenue and Highway 407 in Markham, where she met with the suspect.
While they were talking, police allege the suspect pulled her towards him and touched her sexually.
The victim reported the incident on Sept. 6, to say she was sexually assaulted by her masseur. Police add the victim knew the suspect by the name of “Sam.”
Following an investigation, police determined the suspect is not a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). RMTs are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and anyone not registered is not permitted to practice massage therapy in the province or call themselves massage therapists.
In a news release issued Monday, police say they charged 49-year-old Toronto resident Quoc Vinh Tran with two counts of sexual assault. The charges have not been tested in court.
Investigators believe there may be more victims and ask anyone with additional information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
