A woman is in critical condition following a serious road traffic collision in Sligo last night.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the collision at Kileenduff, Easkey, Co Sligo.

At approximately 10.15pm, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision between two cars.

Both drivers, a woman and a man in their 40s, were taken to Sligo University Hospital where the woman’s condition is described as critical and the man is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R297 at Kileenduff, Easkey, between 9:45pm and 10.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
