Paris 2024 semi-finalists Lakshya Sen and the country’s top doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty are set to lead a big Indian contingent at the Macau Open 2025 badminton tournament, which starts on Tuesday.

Badminton matches from the Macau Open, a BWF Super 300 tournament, will be available to watch on live streaming in India.

Lakshya Sen will be looking for a reset after enduring a difficult 2025 BWF World Tour so far with his best finish this year being a quarter-final appearance at the All England Open in March.

The Indian badminton player has suffered two second-round and six opening-round exits this season, including one at the China Open last week.

Seeded-second Lakshya Sen will be joined by the likes of HS Prannoy, Rithvik Sanjeevi, Sathish Karunakaran, Tharun Mannepalli, Sankar Subramanian, Kiran George and Ayush Shetty in the men’s singles draw.

Seventh seed Ayush Shetty won India’s only BWF World Tour title this year at last month’s US Open.

In the absence of two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, who won the 2015 Macau Open title, world No. 35 Unnati Hooda is India’s top-ranked player in the women’s singles draw.

Unnati Hooda, who upset PV Sindhu to reach the quarter-finals of the China Open last week, will be accompanied by Anupama Upadhyaya, Rakshitha Ramraj and Aakarshi Kashyap.

India’s top billing in the men’s doubles section, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, will be hoping to snap their semi-final jinx at Macau.

Nicknamed the Brothers of Destruction, second seeds Satwik-Chirag have suffered four semi-final exits this year and will be eyeing a deeper run in the coming week.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are the top seeds in the women’s doubles main draw, which also features Priya Konjengbam-Shruti Mishra and Apoorva Gahlawat-Sakshi Gahlawat.

Meanwhile, India’s Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto, 18th in the mixed doubles badminton rankings, are seeded fifth in their draw.
