The City of Corpus Christi’s Engineering Services Department completed fiscal year 2025 with record highs in terms of new contracts awarded and work in place.
The team managed over $400 million worth of work-in-place and secured new contracts totaling more than $650 million in value.
Residents can see this in completed street projects, new facilities and large-scale projects now underway throughout the City.
“This is the true indication of the City’s commitment to investing in infrastructure,” said Jeff Edmonds, Director of Engineering. “We are improving streets, water and wastewater projects, parks and city-owned facilities at numbers never seen, and it’s increasing every year. It’s a city commitment, with several private sector partners in engineering, architecture and construction helping to meet these increased demands.”

Completions:
Gollihar Road (Crosstown Expressway to Greenwood Drive): This $10.6 million road reconstruction project includes new concrete pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, signage, pavement markings, streetlight improvements, and traffic and pedestrian signal enhancements. Related utilities upgrades were also included.
Bill Witt Aquatic Center: Opened for the summer season, this $12.2 million project features a 10-lane lap pool and a recreational pool with slides, water basketball, and pool deck seating areas with shade structures.
Fire Station No. 3: This $12 million state-of-the-art facility features a four-bay station with accommodations for 12 firefighters. The new building has a day room, kitchen, weight room, classroom/community room, and a decontamination room.
Shade Structure at Cole Park Pier Plaza: The $670,000 structure provides shade to the popular pier destination, improving outdoor gatherings and park visits.

North Beach Drainage Improvements: $24.1 million project to address flooding concerns that will create a 4,600-foot drainage canal, with a pedestrian walking path. It also includes the reconstruction of Beach Avenue and Gulf Spray Avenue, as well as the creation of an Eco Park plan that focuses on protecting natural resources.
Northwest Police Substation and Southside Police Substation: These two 7,300-square-foot buildings ($6 million for Northwest and $5.8 million for Southside) are part of a strategic plan to position law enforcement resources closer to the community they serve. These two stations are part of an overall plan for substations, which includes one already in operation in Flour Bluff and another planned for the area near La Palmera Mall.
Sherrill Park Military Monument: This $715,000 project brings back a U.S. Army Bell Huey Helicopter to the park, representing the service and sacrifice of the City’s Army veterans. The helicopter, mounted on a 15-foot-high pedestal, will be installed in the southeast corner and will include a new concrete-paved pathway.
Everhart at SPID water line improvements: $3.4 million in voter-approved water line improvements are underway to replace aging infrastructure and link upgraded water lines, thereby improving water system efficiency.
