On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus driver pulled into the McNab Bus Terminal and exited the vehicle for a short break.

During this time, an adult male entered the unattended bus and drove away with passengers still on board.

The suspect proceeded to travel up the Hamilton Mountain, making multiple stops along the way, allowing passengers to board and exit freely. He even went as far as to deny someone looking to board with an expired Bus Pass. 

Keeping mindful of the potential risk to public safety, Hamilton Police officers strategically followed the bus and safely brought it to a stop on West 5th Street, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of this occurrence.

A 36-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

Theft Over $5,000Possession Over $5,000Obstruct PoliceDrive While Prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges.
