Met Éireann forecasters have issued an urgent weather warning, coming into effect this morning and lasting 12 hours. The Rebel County is the only county in Ireland issued with a Status Yellow rainfall warning today,

The Status Yellow weather warning is valid for Co Cork from 11am on Wednesday morning. The rain warning will remain in place until 11pm tonight.

It comes after heavy downpours yesterday, with the national forecaster warning that the county may be at risk of futher flooding. Met Éireann says: “Further spells of heavy rainfall on saturated ground could lead to excess surface water and spot flooding.”

The weather warning will expire tonight at 11pm.

Met Éireann have predicted rain showers pushing in from the south and another very unsettled day for the southern coast. And we are looking at very unsettled weather continuing through the rest of the week and into the weekend. with the risk of very heavy rain on Friday night, across the eastern half of the country.

The weekend could have some brighter spots, with Sunday looking like a day for more settled, dryer weather. And temperatures will start to fall towards more regular levels for mid-November.

The forecast for today is for mist and fog to be slow to clear this morning before outbreaks of rain will move in from the south early on, turning heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate east to northeast or variable winds.

Remaining cloudy and wet for a time early on in the night as that rain is slowly clears the northern half of the province. Scattered showers will follow in behind, some heavy at times. Becoming more isolated towards morning with a few clearer spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate, variable winds.
