Edwards was confirmed as the Premier League side’s new manager on Wednesday.

He returns to Molineux after previous spells as a player, coach and caretaker boss.

The 42-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the club through until the summer of 2029.

It comes nine years after he oversaw a 1-1 draw at Blackburn as caretaker manager, with Coady playing the full 90 minutes.

According to The Telegraph, Wolves are now interested in bringing the defender back to the club.

However, a return is currently seen as unlikely following his summer move to Wrexham.

Coady joined the newly-promoted Championship outfit on a two-year deal back in August.

He has since made five league appearances, although the last of those came back in September.

The report adds that funds will be made available to Edwards when the transfer window re-opens.

Wolves’ league position and the likelihood of them avoiding relegation will be crucial to the quality of the players they sign.

Edwards takes over a side currently winless at the bottom of the Premier League after 11 matches.

Their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday leaves them eight points from safety after two draws and nine losses.

Coady at Wolves

Coady previously spent eight years with the club between 2015 and 2023.

During that time, he made 317 appearances for Wolves across all competitions.

He was later made captain and helped the club secure promotion to the top-flight as champions in 2018.

The centre-back would go on to win ten caps for England and was part of the Three Lions squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

Following a season-long loan with Everton in the 2022/23 term, Coady was sold to Leicester at the end of the campaign before his switch to Wrexham three months ago.
