A Toronto police officer has been charged with dangerous driving in connection with a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle earlier this year.

Toronto Police Service (TPS) announced the charge against 33-year-old Const. Paolo Deluca in a news release on Wednesday.

On the afternoon of Jan. 8, in the area of Danforth and Greenwood avenues, Deluca allegedly drove at speeds exceeding the posted speed limit while pursuing the stolen vehicle.

He also allegedly failed to stop at multiple controlled intersections and collided with another cruiser responding to the incident.

Deluca is also accused of colliding with the suspect vehicle, leaving one occupant with minor injuries.

As a result, Deluca has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance.

He is set to appear in a Toronto court on Dec. 23.

TPS confirmed Deluca has been suspended with pay.
