A critical incident investigation is underway after a man died after crashing during a pursuit with police in Sydney’s inner south overnight.

Just before midnight, officers attempted to stop a motorcycle travelling northbound on Southern Cross Drive in Zetland.

When it failed to stop, a pursuit began.

Shortly after, the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a van travelling in front.

The man was treated by police before the arrival of paramedics, however, he died at the scene.

A crime scene has now been established.

A critical incident investigation team will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
