Everton are targeting two major moves in the summer transfer window before the Premier League season gets underway. David Moyes has made three signings already in the summer window, but has voiced his desire to bring “five or six more” players to the club.

They are now reportedly preparing an approach for Jack Grealish. The 29-year-old looks certain to leave Manchester City after being frozen out by manager Pep Guardiola last season. He was also omitted from their Club World Cup squad, and his manager has admitted he could leave to find first-team football.

According to the Independent, Everton want to take Grealish on loan for the 2025/26 season. That would allow the midfielder to stay based in Cheshire, where he has a daughter with his partner Sasha Attwood.

Napoli have also been linked with Grealish, and Everton’s pursuit could hinge on whether City favour a permanent sale. Moyes is said to be keen to build his team around the former England international and wants to play him in a free role.

Grealish is perceived to have been restricted at City by Guardiola’s tactics. He’s regularly been deployed wide on the left, having previously played more centrally for Aston Villa.

Everton are also reportedly in talks with Lyon over 20-year-old Belgian forward Malick Fofana. The French club value the youngster at around £40m, with Liverpool also admirers.

The Toffees can also entice both targets with the prospect of an exciting new era at the club’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Moyes’ desire to make more signings may also have been heightened by their poor pre-season showing on Saturday.

They kicked off their Premier League Summer Series campaign in the US with a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at MetLife Stadium. They now play West Ham on Wednesday before a clash with Manchester United four days later.
