It’s a wet and windy start to Sunday morning in Waterloo Region.
Environment Canada says the region can expect some rain showers this morning, possibly turning into snow flurries later in the morning.
570 meteorologist Carl Lam warns that the wind will be a big factor.
“Those gusts today could bring up to 60, even 70km/hr at times,” said Lam. “It will still be very windy tonight and even into tomorrow.”
Some extra snow could also be in the forecast. Several areas west of the Region, including Stratford, Woodstock and Goderich have been issued snow squall warnings. That changed from a snow squall watch earlier Sunday morning. Lam notes the totals are “wide ranging” and will vary depending on the area.
“They could be anywhere between 20-40cm of snow,” said Lam. He notes that could continue into the afternoon and Monday morning.
With the snow squall warnings in effect, drivers are reminded to be cautious as they could lead to reduced visibility.
