Gardaí are seeking witnesses after a serious road traffic collision involving a car and an e-bike on Cork Road (R680) in Waterford City shortly before 8pm this evening, near the McDonald’s drive-thru.
Paramedics transported the 18-year-old cyclist to University Hospital Waterford with serious injuries. They assessed the motorist, an adult male, at the scene but did not bring him to hospital.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have closed the road to examine the scene, and local diversions are currently in place.
Gardaí are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. They are specifically asking motorists in the area at the time to share any camera or dash-cam footage that may assist the investigation.
