Brad Battin has walked into the party room with deputy Sam Groth, along with MPs Richard Riordan and David Southwick.
Battin said he was standing as leader. “Yes, I will be.”
Groth said he “absolutely” expected to be deputy.
Jess Wilson then entered with Evan Mulholland and Brad Rowswell. She didn’t say anything to media.
The party room meeting began at 8.30am AEDT. Ahead of the meeting, MPs Bev McArthur and Kim Wells walked into the party room together.
“Jess will make a fantastic leader and I’m supporting her,” McArthur said.

She rejected the Liberal Party is divided, and said Victorians wanted the strongest possible opposition to defeat the government. James Newbury also entered the party room.
Former Malvern MP Michael O’Brien, another former opposition leader, said “we’ll see” when asked if there would be a new leader today.
“These are difficult days for any leader,” he said.“I know because I’ve been there myself.
“We’ll just get through it. And the important thing is, once we make a decision, we are all completely united and focused on removing the worst government in Victoria’s history.”
Similar sentiments have been made before and after Liberal party leadership spills.
Finance spokeswoman Bridget Vallence, who lost her title as leader of opposition business in the last cabinet reshuffle, would not say whether Battin had lost her backing.
“I’ve had a long-standing position that we have party room decisions, and we decide those things in the party room,” she said.
