Queensland Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was killed in a hit-and-run north of Brisbane on Monday night, with investigations focused on a white ute.Â
Emergency services were called to Margate Parade at Margate just before 11:30pm following reports the vehicle had struck a 17-year-old girl.
Officers found the girl with life-threatening injuries and rendered CPR, but she died at the scene a short time later.
Moreton District Police Acting Chief Superintendent Tom Armitt said police were still searching for the vehicle believed to be involved.

He said officers were following up leads, “but as yet” it had not been located.
“We will be investigating whether there is any CTV footage that may help us with our inquiries,” he said.
He called on the driver of the car and any occupants to come forward.
“This is a very serious matter, and we will be relentless in our inquiries,” he said.
Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the area, including Mabel Street and Margate Parade, is being urged to contact police.
‘She’s someone’s daughter’
Acting Chief Superintendent Armitt said it was not known if the victim was with friends at the time of the incident or whether she was alone.
Kimberley Cullen, who lives nearby, said she heard tyres screeching and rushed outside to see if there had been a crash.

Within the “space of a minute” the car had left the scene, she said.
“I saw the young girl on the ground and rushed down and called the ambulance and police,” Ms Cullen said.
“It’s been a long night, I feel like [I’m] still running on adrenaline.
“She’s someone’s daughter … someone’s friend and she’s not here anymore.”
