A Donegal district court Judge has come down heavy on motorists parking illegally in disabled bays.

A number of such cases came before Judge Ciaran Liddy at Letterkenny District Court today.

Only those with an official disabled parking badge displayed on their vehicle are allowed to park in public disabled bays free of charge.

Judge Liddy fined those who came before him €250 for the offence.

Some claimed they were only using the disabled bay for a short period of time.

But Judge Liddy came down heavy on the offenders and, as well as dishing out monetary fines, he also banned the drivers from the road for three months in each case.
