Kerry’s win over Donegal in yesterday’s All-Ireland Football Final drew an average audience of 933,000 viewers to RTÉ One, peaking at 1,033,000 towards the end of the game.

It was a bumper weekend of football previews, coverage and analysis on RTÉ Sport and on the RTÉ Player.

Last night, Jacqui Hurley and the Sunday Game pundits picked the Football team of the year.

Not surprisingly there were eight Kerry nominations on the team.

Donegal’s quarter included Brendan McCole, Michael Langan, Conor O’Donnell and Michael Murphy. Former Donegal star Mark McHugh also gave an honourable mention to Finbarr Roarty.

Kerry captain Gavin White was named Man of the Match on The Sunday Game on RTÉ2.

The pre-match craic began on Saturday night on RTÉ One as an average audience of 309,000 watched Up For The Match.

The lively show featured GAA legends Marc Ó Sé, Eamon McGee and Frank McGlynn and the Godfather of Donegal GAA, Brian McEniff. Plus, Marty Morrissey was joined by Hollywood star Matthew Broderick live in Towney in Kilcar.

Fans were heavily engaged with The Sunday Game across RTÉ’s social media platforms with video views reaching 6.73 million with over 705,000 engagements.

The top-performing piece of content across all RTÉ social channels and platforms was the video below, featuring Michael D. Higgins’ last attendance at a men’s All Ireland Final as President.
