President Donald Trump said the US would sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, offering Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a prize he’s long cherished, ahead of a visit to the White House on Tuesday.

The agreement marks a major concession to Prince Mohammed and sets the tone for talks aimed at deepening Washington’s ties with Riyadh. MBS, as the Crown Prince is known, is seeking deals in defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy and gas. Notably, Saudi Arabia wants permission to import advanced AI chips from the likes of Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and a security pact with the US.
