Forests and natural ecosystems remain under severe threat. This report finds that dozens of companies in high-risk sectors are falling short on critical steps to eliminate deforestation and land conversion from their supply chains. Yet, a few leaders prove that achieving this goal is possible.

Our report provides a detailed assessment of corporate progress, highlights effective business practices, and identifies jurisdictional and landscape initiatives as major opportunities to accelerate sector-wide change.

Key findings:

Leading companies report considerable progress: Companies such as Danone and Nestlé disclose over 95% deforestation- and conversion-free sourcing for palm oil, soy, timber, paper, and pulp. Nestlé goes further with a a 100% deforestation- and conversion-free cattle supply chain and strong efforts to improve cocoa traceability.

Collaboration beyond individual supply chains offers huge opportunity: Nearly half of companies disclose involvement in jurisdictional or landscape initiatives, which are key to systemic drivers of deforestation and conversion.Â
