NRL player agent Clinton Schifcofske, who represents Zac Lomax and Ryan Papenhuyzen has revealed he won’t negotiate with the R360 rebel rugby union competition officials from now on.

Schifcofske admits he was advising some of his clients, including Lomax and Papenhuyzen to pursue opportunities with R360, but given the introduction of the NRL’s 10-year ban rules, he can no longer represent them in that space.

Code Sports reported Schifcofske has walked away from all current and future dealings with R360 in line with the NRL’s new strict rules for the game’s player agents and players.

“I won’t be having anything to do with R360 moving forward,” Schifcofske told Code Sports.

“There’s a 10-year ban in place for agents who take players to R360, and I don’t want to do the wrong thing and cop that.

“I’m absolutely respectful of the NRL’s position.”

Papenhuyzen was released from the final year of his Storm deal, while Lomax cut short his four-year deal with the Eels after one season to pursue other opportunities outside the NRL.

The pair have been strongly linked to the R360 competition, which is slated to begin on October 2 of next year, just before the 2026 NRL Grand Final.

Lomax’s deal is worth a reported $1.5 million US a season and could include massive tax breaks depending on where his team is based in Europe.

Schifcofske doesn’t deny he was in talks with R360 on behalf of his clients, but will adhere to the NRL’s new rules going forward.

“I’m not hiding that I had talks on behalf of my clients, but I was doing my job at the time,” Schifskofske said.

“If those rules have changed, then I’ll play by them.”

Given, Lomax and Papenhuyzen’s release terms, they are unlikely to be at another NRL club any time soon.

If R360 falls over amid doubts about its validity and long-term sustainability, the pair may have to consider their futures in the NRL.

Payne Haas has reportedly turned his back on R360’s rumoured $3 million a season approach to stay loyal to the Broncos amid doubts about the future of the rebel competition.

Schifcofske revealed he will continue to represent Lomax and Papenhuyzen in the event of future NRL dealings or if they decide to pursue other rugby options other than R360.

However, he has advised his clients to seek outside legal representation should they wish to pursue opportunities in R360.

“If they want to pursue R360, I’ve told them to get a lawyer to represent them in that space,” Schifcofske said.

“I’ll continue helping them with other rugby options around the world – Europe, Japan – but not R360.”
