TICKFORD Racing co-owner Rod Nash has revealed the two key deals which were quietly executed in the lead-up to Altor Capital’s buy-in.
Altor now owns a controlling stake in the Supercars squad; Nash remains a shareholder too but Sven Burchartz does not.
In fact, the latter part of the equation had already been finalised.
“So, there has been a previous transaction to now,” Nash told V8 Sleuth.
“I have been 100 percent owner for a month and so Sven stepped out. That was all part of getting ready for this transaction.”
Also paving the way for the new Altor era was a restructuring of the business to shift Rod Nash Racing’s assets to under the Tickford umbrella.
Prior to that, Car #55 and the associated Teams Racing Charter had formally belonged to RNR – which has had a Supercars presence pre-dating Tickford, all the way back to 1998.
It was then that former speedway racer Nash took the plunge in shifting to circuit racing. He bought an ex-Wayne Gardner Racing Holden and did a deal for it to be prepared and run by top privateer John Faulkner, going on to make 28 ATCC/SC starts across a four-year period.
Nash coincidentally leased his licence to Ford Performance Racing (now Tickford) for its inaugural season to enable it to run a third car in 2003 for David Besnard.

“When I purchased Sven’s shares, we also had to tidy up the structure of the business,” Nash explained.
“Rod Nash Racing still owned its TRC and it owned a race car and a race trailer.
“So over the last month we’ve worked with Supercars, because there’s certain approvals you have got to do with change of ownerships, and that’s been completed.
“So, Rod Nash Racing now doesn’t own its TRC. Tickford Racing owns that TRC/Car #55, and that was all approved by Supercars.” While Nash has stepped back from much of the day-to-day operations, passing the baton to CEO Simon Brookhouse, he remains an influential figure as Tickford’s director of motorsport.
