Overview

Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation and public health problem that transcends economic, social and national boundaries. It has both immediate and long-term effects on the physical and mental health of women, children, families and societies.

This report provides updated global, regional and national estimates for two forms of violence against women: intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence. The estimates presented are based on a comprehensive review of prevalence data from surveys and studies conducted between 2000 and 2023 (published by November 2024).
