This project is the third stage of the global project reconstructing Via Baltica from Marijampolė to the Lithuanian-Polish border. The A5 Kaunas – Marijampolė – Suwalki road section was widened up to four traffic lanes. Project works also included the installation and reconstruction of the necessary engineering and environmental protection measures, the reconstruction of one interchange of different levels and the reconstruction of one bridge.
The project ensures better and safer traffic conditions for increasing traffic flows and creates conditions for the development of trade, as well as civil and military connections between Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and other Eastern and Western European countries.
