Former Strictly star Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay have finally broken their silence on the spiralling family feud ahead of their Christmas wedding. The Olympic swimmer, 30, is preparing to tie the knot with the daughter of Gordon Ramsay next month in a grand ceremony in the heart of Bath. But it hasn’t been plain sailing for the happy couple, who reportedly banned the sportsman’s mother from his nuptials in the wake of a bitter family feud.

On Wednesday (November 19), Adam took to social media to issue a statement in which he accused his family of “encouraging” false rumours. Peaty said his blushing bride, 25, and his sister Bethany had been targeted over the unfolding drama, which the police have now got involved in.

It reads: “Over the past few days, a lot has been reported and comments posted about the private life of Holly and myself. My sister Bethany has also been targeted. This has been almost entirely one-sided and, in many cases, excessive and intrusive.

“It has been deeply hurtful and upsetting to read, especially given the false basis upon which we have been targeted. What makes it worse is that it has been encouraged by members of my family.” The award-winning swimmer went on to reassure his loyal fanbase that there are always two sides to every story and insisted that he has nothing but good intentions.

He continued: “Bethany, Holly, amid myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events. For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place.

“I am continuing to learn about myself and how I can be the man I want to be; a worthy partner, father, businessman, friend and athlete; even through these challenging times. Bethany, Holly, and I will get through this – we do not ask for sympathy.

“We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story. To those of you who have reached out and shown kindness and understanding – thank you. It is deeply appreciated.”

It comes after Adam’s aunt, Louise, previously described Holly as “divisive and hurtful” in a fierce online rant after his sister Caroline wasn’t invited to Holly’s extravagant hen do at Soho Farmhouse. However, Bethany and Holly’s mum, Tana Ramsay, was also in attendance, as was the couple’s famous family friend, Victoria Beckham.

After seeing the 25-year-old share her lavish hen do snaps online, Louise shared a bitter tirade online, which Caroline praised hours later. Taking to Instagram, she shared a quote which read: “The moment you realise: the little sister who once drove you crazy is now the one who keeps you sane. Your loudest supporter and forever best friend.”

It continued: “She eventually becomes the comfort zone which every elder sister secretly needed all along”. Caroline captioned the post: “Louise, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my protector through this difficult time. To the people who are being so cruel to my sister, please stop. Sadly, you obviously don’t understand the bond of sisters.”

The latest update comes after a worried Holly called the police while Adam was flying back from his stag do in Budapest, following concerns that he could be assaulted by his brother when he landed in the UK.

After touching down in Manchester, the dad-of-one was escorted by five police officers through passport control. His brother was arrested at his Staffordshire home hours later. A source close to Adam and Holly told The Sun at the time: “This feud is heartbreaking from both sides.

“But the reality is that Adam sees his mum Caroline to be enabling his brother’s actions rather than pushing him to deal with his demons. Poor Caroline must feel utterly torn and it’s just very hard for everyone.”

Despite the feud, Caroline appears to he holding out hope for a reconciliation with her son even though she was uninvited to his wedding. This week, Caroline revealed that she has purchased a card and gift for the couple, although she remains uncertain whether they will accept her gesture.

The former nursery manager told the Mail Online: “It’s a decent present. I don’t know if they will even open it.” She added that she is still happy to attend the wedding if her son has a change of heart. Caroline added: “If he changed his mind, I would go. I want to go to Bath, to go into the abbey, to watch him get married. I love him, he’s still my little boy.”Â
