Gardai were involved in a dramatic high-speed pursuit after a suspected drug-driver fled a checkpoint in Co Donegal.
Gardaí were eventually forced to use a stinger to stop and arrest the driver.
The driver was initially stopped at a checkpoint at Bridgend on the Donegal Derry border in the early hours of yesterday morning and tested positive for cocaine.
However, the driver then decided to flee the scene and drove off in a dangerous manner.
Gardai pursued the car and were then forced to deploy their stinger device to bring the vehicle and driver under control.
“The vehicle was driven in a dangerous manner for a distance,” said a garda spokesperson.
“A stinger device was successfully deployed and it was located and seized a short time later.”
The driver is now expected to appear at a future sitting of the local District Court.
A Garda spokesperson said the driver will also have to apply to the District Court Judge in order to get their vehicle back.
