Spain’s chief prosecutor, Álvaro García Ortiz, has been barred from holding public office for two years for disclosing classified information, according to a statement by the Supreme Court.
García Ortiz was found guilty of leaking documents relating to an investigation into the partner of a rising star from the center-right People’s Party. He was also fined more than €7,000 ($8,000) and ordered to pay an additional €10,000 in damages.
