Media Release
On November 20, 2025, at 7:47 am, a child ran from their home to a neighbour’s residence for help. Police subsequently received an emergency 9-1-1 call for an in-progress intimate partner violence (IPV) incident occurring within a Lakeshore Road home.Â
Patrol officers responded immediately. Upon arrival, officers secured the involved adult female and her children outside of the residence. Police observed her to have obvious facial injuries. Police secured the residence with the involved male now alone inside.
The male refused to exit, prompting the deployment of the Sarnia Police Emergency Response Team (ERT). The circumstances of this incident at the time required the deployment of additional support resources, including K9, crisis negotiators, a critical incident commander, and the establishment of a mobile command post.
Negotiations were quickly initiated, and the male surrendered himself to police custody without incident at 9:58 AM.
The female victim was treated by ambulance at the scene. No children were injured. The victim and her children have been taken to a place of safety.Â
A Sarnia man has been held for bail on charges of:Â
Assault x 8Â
Assault Cause Bodily Harm
Assault with a Weapon
Forcible Confinement
Breach of Release order x 2
Police remain at this location while a search warrant is executed to gather additional evidence. The Criminal Investigations Division has now assumed responsibility for this matter and additional charges may be forthcoming.Â
The names and other identifying information in this incident are being withheld to protect the identity of the involved victims. Lakeshore Road has been reopened.Â
